Core Combat Mechanics
- Dodging: The most important skill. Dodge at the last moment for invincibility frames. Practice this on weak enemies until it becomes second nature.
- Light vs. Heavy Attacks: Light attacks are fast and build stagger. Heavy attacks are slow but deal massive damage and break guards. Mix them in combos.
- Perfect Dodge: Dodging right before an enemy attack lands triggers a perfect dodge, slowing time briefly and opening the enemy for a counterattack.
- Companion Abilities: Your companions have active abilities you can trigger. Use them to stagger enemies, heal, or deal area damage.
- Stamina Management: Every action consumes stamina. Never fully deplete it — always keep enough for one dodge. Out of stamina = dead.

- Always have a horse summoned. Pywel is massive. Your horse saves hours of travel and can be used in combat.
- Talk to every NPC. Many quests, features, and companion recruitment opportunities are hidden in dialogue.
- Upgrade storage early. You'll accumulate items fast. Running out of storage is frustrating — buy storage upgrades as soon as possible.
